The Common Potoo is a nocturnal bird that's from the tropical areas of Central and South America, and it's greyish-brown color makes it look just like a log or tree branch. Throughout the day, the bird actually rests by sitting as still as possible with it's beak pointed straight up to look like an extension of whatever tree it's sitting on. Little has been seen of the bird actually being casual without looking like a branch, but when it does, it quickly shoots back to being a branch immediately upon sensing any danger around it. The Potoo will actually track the intruding animal's location by moving extremely slow as to not be detected while still looking like a branch, and will even squint its eyes as to not reveal itself by showing her extremely bright yellow irises.
When not attempting to be hidden from view the Common Potoo actually looks extremely bizarre with big giant eyes and a mouth that opens pretty much 180 degress, which kind of makes it look like a puppet. Check out a non hidden Potoo via the video below.
